Technology is innovation at its finest. We might not like everything about it, but it’s here to stay and is developing.
Engineering is the application of scientific knowledge to solve problems in the real world through building and design. It encompasses everything from construction to tackling climate change, to modes of transportation, to household appliances, and cell phones. It’s the study of architecture, mechanical design, avionics, information technology, technology, engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical).
Math is the language of science, technology, and engineering. No matter what our job is, math is an essential part of our lives. When we think of math we often think back to the horrors of calculus class. We wonder why it was so significant to know how to do prime factorization because well, let’s be honest, have we ever needed to do that since grade school? But math is so much more than that.
Why is STEM Education Required?
The fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths, otherwise known as the STEM, are becoming important. However, one of the main problems that these industries are facing is a lack of qualified students who will fulfill the roles of the current employees once they move on and get older.
It’s a Fun Education
One of the most ignores traits of STEM education is that there are lots of students out there who get enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment from it. Focusing on the STEM for these students helps them feel more involved with their education, and get more from it.
However, this only happens when executed by the teachers, especially during the younger educational years.
No matter what field you’re learning, learning about it is all about noticing new things, building things, collecting data or information and experiment with different things to see what the outcome is.
It’s Very Hands-On
More usually referred to in the field as ‘Experiential Learning’, STEM is very hands-on, and skill based. Hand in hand with the concern above, STEM learning necessitate students to do things with their hands to discover specific knowledge or to develop particular skills.
