STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and maths. STEM subjects are very vital as it pervades every part of our lives. Sciences are everywhere around us. Technology is highly expanding into every aspect of our lives. Engineering is the basic design for roads and bridges but also handles the challenges of changing global weather and environmentally-friendly changes to our homes. Mathematics is involved in every occupation and every activity that we perform in our lives.
By exposing children to STEM and providing them with ample opportunities to explore STEM-based concepts, the kids will slowly develop a passion for it and pursue STEM-related jobs in the near future. A curriculum that is STEM-based has real-life situations to help the kids learn.
Programs such as Engineering for Kids combine multiple classes to provide opportunities to observe how the concept relates to life in order to hopefully spark a passion or interest for future STEM-related jobs. STEM activities provide hands-on experience and mind-on lessons for the children. Making science and maths more interesting helps children to do much more than just learn.
STEM education helps to fill the gap between ethnic and gender gaps sometimes found in the science and maths field. Steps have been taken to establish to raise the role of women and minorities in STEM-based fields. Here are different types of science experiments –
1. Lab Experiment – this experiment is conducted in a lab setting, and the outcome is analyzed by the scientist.
2. Exploratory science experiments – As exploratory science experiment tests the new ideas and theories of how things are working. These experiments do not require a repetition as it is only used for the test purpose only.
3. Fieldwork Science Experiment – These types of experiments are performed outside the classroom in the natural environment.
What are the benefits of the Science Experiment?
- Develops scientific vocabulary
- They get to learn about different new concepts and ideas
- Allow teachers to access the knowledge of children.
- Provides ample opportunity for young learners.
Science experiments are the best way to learn about the world and develop skills in this field.
